The autumn internationals kicked off this week, like a row over the last can of dutch gold at a student party. There were stompings and stampings, handling and humpings and Ireland once again had Kidney-failure. The team tucked in with as much gusto as an American in McDonalds, and digested the weeks rugby into a form that even a soccer fan could follow.

The withering eyes and caustic tongues were cast over the performances of players and coaches, and as a bonus, we lay the smackdown on the Indo's Wony Turd for his petulant swipe at the 'pitiful websites' who dare to critique the game we know and love. #BreakingNews If you did your job properly Wony, then there might be less need for the likes of us.

Doc is in the chair this week, as Dave takes a break. Joining him this week are Daithi with 'la perspective française', Matt with the Kiwi insight, 'Clockwork' English Mike (with no windups this week) and a Scottish-based perspective from our Glasgow-resident Ulsterman Thomas.

COMING UP ON THE SHOW:

44:30 - Scotland v South Africa

49:20 - England v Australia

We also welcome back Doc and William from Ireland while Mike chimes in from Durham, England. Along with David Barnes, we discuss the topical issues in rugby at the moment, most notably the upcoming Heineken Cup semi-finals where we are 2 victories away from an all Irish final.

Coming up on the show:

0:00 - The team say hi!

PART 1: RABODIRECT PRO12 REVIEW

3:10 - Leinster severely dented Ulster's playoff hopes with a win at Ravenhill, ahead of their Heineken semi-finals.

13:00 - David Barnes gives his 2c on the Rabo.

PART 2: HEINEKEN CUP SEMI-FINALS PREVIEW

PART 3: AMLIN CHALLENGE CUP + AVIVA PREMIERSHIP TALK

It's time to wave goodbye to the Six Nations and welcome back some big games in club rugby! It's that time again, Munster host Leinster in what is set to be an enthralling 80 minutes at Thomond Park. This week Talking Rugby looks ahead to the clash in Limerick, while also analysising the current stories and issues in the game.

Joining Dave O'Grady this week are 2 regulars Alan and Doc, while Nick (a proud man from Dublin 4) makes his debut on the show.

Coming up:

0:00 - We meet the team this week along with new boy Nick.

6:20 - It's the big one in Limerick as Leinster fans Doc and Nick do battle with Munster fan Alan! Leinster have their talisman in O'Driscoll back fit while Munster are missing key men in O'Connell, Ryan and Murray. Leinster might be better on paper but the Thomond Park factor always plays its part. Wearing their provincial hats, our panel discuss the game at length.

30:00 - The panel discuss how Leinster and Munster could beat each other and respective strengths and weaknesses! The team also give their unbiased (!) predictions for the game.

40:10 - We react to the news that winger Shane Horgan (Leinster, Ireland, B&I Lions) has been forced to retire due to a serious knee injury.

44:30 - Ronan O'Gara, a player who always creates a talking point and debate, had some choice words in the media this week and our panel have some choice words of their own!

1:03:45 - Calum Clark has been banned for 32 weeks for the incident in the LV= Cup final. The panel is less than happy with the decision, following on from their negative reaction last week.

1:06:35 - The latest news in international rugby concerns Stuart Lancaster being awarded the permanent England job after a successful Six Nations campaign while the much maligned Andy Robinson is remaining in situ with Scotland.

1:14:30 - We talk Andi Kyriacou's Italian taxi adventures, Dylan Hartley's ban and Ulster and Connacht in Pro12 action.

The Six Nations is over and this week Talking Rugby reviews the competition in depth and assesses the performances of each country throughout the championship, along with a look back on the final week of fixtures.

This week Mike from Durham, Doc from Dublin and Alan from Luxembourg join Dave. Our popular Ulsterman William is also back having been absent from the show for a few weeks.

Coming up on the show:

PART 1: SIX NATIONS WEEK 5 REVIEW

0:00 - Introduction to this week's panel.

4:00 - England comprehensively beat Ireland at Twickenham, Mike is a happy camper while our Irish panelists bemoan Ireland's poor display. William in particular doesn't hold back in criticising the current Irish setup. We also talk the future of England and the situation regarding their future coach.

29:00 - Wales have won a 3rd Grand Slam in 8 years! Last weekend France made a decent effort of derailing Wales' campaign but the home side were simply good. But can the Welsh get even better and challenge the might of the southern hemisphere in the future?

44:35 - The annual Wooden Spoon showdown was won by Italy this year but is it the case that neither Italy nor Scotland have a bright future? After 5 losses from 5, Dave asks the question if Robinson's position is untenable.

PART 2: GENERAL SIX NATIONS REVIEW

56:00 - The panel discuss their XV of the championship, our very own dream team!

1:02:40 - We choose our best player and best emerging player of the championship.

1:20:40 - The RaboDirect Pro12 returns with the Irish provinces all in action. We also discuss the talking points within those games, including Brian O'Driscoll's return from injury and Jerry Flannery's retirement.

The final week of the Six Nations is fast approaching and Talking Rugby comprehensively previews the fixtures to come. We also look back on the games of last weekend, with England's surprise win in Paris the big talking point.

Joining the everpresent Dave O'Grady are Pedro and Doc from Ireland, Irish Exile Michael in London and proud Englishman Mike from Durham.

PART 1: SIX NATIONS WEEK 4 REVIEW

00:00 - England destroyed France's championship hopes with a strong display in Paris, with France's lethargic performance that puts pressure on new coach Philippe Saint-Andre. Mike was delighted with England's display and has plenty to say regarding Stuart Lancaster as the potential permanent England head coach.

12:40 - Ireland scored some good tries and were very clinical to put away Scotland but the Scots were at sea in defence in what was their worst performance this year. We look in depth at Tommy Bowe's disallowed try.

30:40 - Wales got past Italy unscathed but it wasn't a vintage win. Wales completely dominated the game but Italy as usual managed to frustrate their opponents.

PART 2: SIX NATIONS WEEK 5 PREVIEW

41:15 - Once again it's a Wooden Spoon showdown between Italy and Scotland this year. After Scotland's dire display in Dublin last weekend, the consensus is Italy should do the job.

46:30 - Wales will be vying for a third Grand Slam in 7 years when they host the unpredictable France in Cardiff. Can France recover to put it up to a confident Wales?

53:40 - The final game of the weekend sees Ireland travelling to rivals England in London. The Six Nations has seen an England resurgence since the dark days of the World Cup while Ireland have been improving week on week in this championship.

PART 3: OTHER BUSINESS!

1:02:30 - Pedro bemoans Munster's shock defeat at Aironi in the Pro12, while the new Ulster coach Mark Anscombe and the current news in English rugby get a mention.

1:13:20 - A quick mention from Doc on who should be the Six Nations Player of the Championship and also the coaching changes in Scotland, which has left our panel less than impressed.

1:17:10 - Bet of the Week!

We're already halfway through the Six Nations, with a previously postponed match out of the way! This week, on our 30th show, Dave is joined by Alan in Luxembourg, Doc in Dublin, Daithi in France and new man Michael to look back on last weekend's action along with looking ahead to the fourth round of the Six Nations.

Coming up on this week's show:

0:00 - The team says hi and we welcome Michael to the show for the first time, a well travelled rugby fan who has represented Scottish Universities.

4:00 - Ireland fell short in Paris and had to settle for a disappointing 17-17 draw against a misfiring France who were dominated in the first half by the men in green. Daithi gives us the perspective from France which may differ from the views from Ireland! The lads discuss Ireland's impressive first 40 minutes display along with their second half performance where they lost an 11 point lead.

20:30 - Ireland face Scotland this Saturday at Aviva Stadium. Scotland have some impressive players but will their uncreative centres let them down in terms of giving dangerous players like Stuart Hogg quality ball?

36:00 - The Welsh media believe a Welsh Grand Slam is inevitable and this weekend they face a struggling Italy side in Cardiff, a game they should expect to win comfortably. You won’t find many fans that disagree on this show!

40:35 - An improving England side travel to Paris to face France, a team they typically play well against in the Six Nations. Can France bounce back from last week where their Grand Slam quest was ruined? Is this young England team good enough to win against a more talented opponent?

48:35 - We round up the RD Pro12, Aviva Premiership and Top14. We also talk about the biggest transfer story of the week, Tommy Bowe returning to his native Ulster from Ospreys on a three year contract.

1:03:30 - Doc mentions some rugby news of the week and as usual he gives his bet of the week (Clermont +1 away to Agen).

The Six Nations is upon us and in this week's show we comprehensively preview the opening games in this year's installment in one of rugby's oldest competitions.

This week's panel is the most varied yet, with Ireland, Scotland and England all represented. Talking Rugby regulars William and Pedro represent Ireland, Durham man Mike is back for his second show to talk England while new man Nigel joins from Scotland.

0:00 - Before the Six Nations preview, the show starts with William's thoughts on Brian McLaughlin's situation at Ulster, with the news that he is set to leave Ulster at the end of the season.

7:20 - We look ahead to Ireland vs Wales in Dublin. Declan Kidney has kept faith (aside from injury) with the players that appeared at the World Cup, is his selection too conservative?
(Note: Wales' starting lineup was not announced at time of recording.)

21:30 - It's a new era for England and with one of their most inexperienced Six Nations lineup they face a tricky trip to Scotland. The much maligned Dan Parks is starting at 10 for the Scots, how will we dictate how Scotland play? Nigel discusses the conservatism of Andy Robinson.

37:10 - Doc joins us to discuss the third game of the weekend. Two sides with new coaches, France host Italy at the Stade de France. Phillipe Saint-Andre has made a few interesting selections, picking a beefy bruising pack to tackle the inevitable physical challenge from the Italians.

46:00 - The panel talk about some of the current media stories and also some suggestions from the lads, including a Six Nations A tournament to be run in conjunction with the senior competition, plus the lads disagree on the introduction of bonus points into the Six Nations.

57:45 - We end the show with our Bet of the Week and Mike's thoughts on Stuart Lancaster's recent comment in the media.

On this week’s show, Alan (Munster), William (Ulster) and Doc (Leinster) join Dave, with the special issue being Premiership Rugby head Mark McCafferty’s remarks that Aviva Premiership clubs have it harder than Rabo Direct Pro12 teams in terms of domestic competition and qualifying for the Heineken Cup. As usual, there is a review of the Irish provinces' fixtures, this week was the final round of the Heineken Cup pool stages.

Coming up on the show:

0:00 - Connacht made history as they secured their first Heineken Cup win, at home to Harlequins. Could this result turn their poor season around?

9:30 - Leinster secure a home quarter final after a win over Montpellier. However did the scoreline reflect Leinster's performance?

18:10 - Ulster didn't win in Clermont but produced a good performance to secure a losing bonus point. Plus, a development to Ravenhill has been announced.

32:00 - Munster have awoken! They destroyed Northampton at Milton Keynes, with young Simon Zebo stealing the show with a second half hattrick of tries.

42:00 - We look ahead to the Heineken Cup quarter finals.
- Munster vs Ulster
- Leinster vs Cardiff Blues
- Edinburgh vs Toulouse
- Saracens vs Clermont Auvergne

1:00:20 - We discuss the argument by Mark McCafferty, which our panel describe as nonsense, that more English clubs should have more representation in Europe and that RaboDirect Pro12 sides have an easier ride in terms of performing in Europe. Doc prepares an excellent argument against each of the proposals.

1:21:30 - Ireland's second string, the Wolfhounds, travel to Exeter to face the England Saxons.

It’s a big weekend in the Heineken Cup with Ulster being the major talking point.

Dave is joined on show this by Ulster’s William, who is describing as being ‘in heaven’ at the moment. Munster’s Pedro and Leinster’s Doc also join Dave to talk about their provinces along with Declan Kidney’s selection for the 6 Nations.

There was also a place for Mike from Durham, the first English man on Talking Rugby. Dave chats to Mike about the new England setup and his thoughts on England's Six Nations prospects.

Coming up on the show:

3:20 Ulster's destruction of Leicester at Ravenhill was up there with Ulster's greatest wins in Europe. William in particular looks back on the Ulster display.

13:30 The Leinster wagon keeps rolling on with a tough win away to Glasgow.
The lads also look ahead to Leinster's home clash against Montpellier.

20:00 Munster won at home to Castres but their performance left a lot to be desired. Plus it doesn't get any easier with a trip to Northampton to come.

30:25 Connacht were as usual plucky losers! However Doc feels there are positives to their performance away to European giants Toulouse.

33:30 Ulster face a daunting trip to Clermont, where they probably need something to qualify. We also look ahead to the other games at the weekend.

39:10 The Ireland squad has been announced, along with the second string Wolfhounds squad, both are dissected by the panel. Declan Kidney seems to have played it safe with his selections.

50:20 What about England? Their newest squad has ditched all the 'deadwood' but can their young guns hack it in the Six Nations? Mike gives his thoughts on England's future.

1:04:30 We look at the other Six Nations sides.

1:18:30 Bet of the Week

Talking Rugby with Dave O’Grady.

On this week’s show, Alan, William and Doc join Dave to look back on how the Irish provinces fared in the Rabo Direct Pro 12 and look ahead to the weekends Heineken Cup games. The lads also discuss the latest rugby gossip in the media.

Coming up on the show:
00:00 Ulster’s win over Edinburgh and their chances against the Leicester Tigers.

20:30 Another poor performance yet victory for Munster. Plus this weekend we preview their Heineken Cup clash with Castres, who will likely send a weakened side.

33:30 Leinster take a decent scalp in Cardiff over in Wales while Doc and William lambast the officiating including the TMO. Also Leinster face a tricky trip to Glasgow in the Heineken Cup to ensure qualification.

44:00 Connacht’s poor run continues with a truly awful performance away to Pro12 basement side Aironi. It certainly won't get any easier as they travel to Toulouse next! The lads also look at the other games in Europe.

53:15 The lads discuss recent eye-catching media stories, including an international eligibility row, a misbehaving player and a misbehaving club owner!

1:08:50 As usual we end with the bet of the week section with our expert Doc from www.thinkbetprofit.com

William, Doc, Alan and Tadhg join Dave to discuss the interprovincial results in the Pro12. We talk Eddie O'Sullivan's possible new job and Scott Johnson, who will leave the Ospreys to join Andy Robinson at Scotland. Our main issue this week surrounds the IRFU's new regulations around Non Irish Eligible Players, rules that will be in place from the 2013/14 season.

Coming up:

0:00 - Leinster's win over Ulster's youngsters. William laments the Ulster selection policy that effectively conceded the game before a ball was kicked, but he praises the young lads' resiliance.

11:30 - Bar a great send-off for John Hayes, Munster vs Connacht didn't produce many memorable moments. We talk at length about Niall O'Connor and a certain Munster player that frustrates the life out of Alan!

18:40 - The lads take a look back on John Hayes' fantastic career and how much we'll miss the Munster & Ireland 'ligind'.

27:15 - William and Doc look ahead to the 2nd week of the festive interpros: Ulster vs Munster & Connacht vs Leinster.

29:00 - Eddie O'Sullivan has been in the media saying he would like the Ospreys job. We discuss if he would be a good fit.

35:00 - Scott Johnson is leaving Ospreys at the end of the season to become an assistant coach with Scotland. However is this guy a spoofer? The discussion also moves to the state of the game in Scotland.

42:10 - Our main discussion this week revolves around the new 'IRFU Player Contract Policy'. The various dictats and stipulations of the new regulation are dissected. William is passionately opposed to many aspects of the announced changes.

- Will the provinces suffer, and should they suffer so that the national team can have more depth?
- Connacht have been excluded from the changes, where does it leave them?
- Will the rules be rigidly or loosely applied?
- Can these rules show fairness towards all of Munster, Ulster and Leinster?

1:02:20 - We end the show with Doc and Alan's thoughts on their preferred outright bets for next year.

Ciarán, William and Pedro join Dave to look back on the Irish provinces' games last weekend. The lads look at how the Heineken Cup pools are shaping up after 4 rounds and predict who should qualify for the knockout stages, as it's the time where permutations can be assessed. Ulster have done the job home and away to Aironi, Leinster found their best form in the Aviva against Bath while Munster ground out another win and Connacht still can't catch a break!

In a special feature this week, Doc also joins us to discuss his Christmas wishes in rugby, along with Pedro and William.

Coming up on the show:

00:00 - Munster's win over Scarlets yet once again an average performance (Pool 1).

13:00 - Ulster's 2nd bonus point over Aironi and what new signing John Afoa has brought to the table. (Pool 4)

18:00 - Leinster's stunning win over Bath. Jonny Sexton in the form of his life in blue colours along with the emergence of the formerly maligned Devin Toner. (Pool 3)

28:00 - Same old story for Connacht, another plucky loser tag! In France, Harlequins stun Toulouse in a tale of 2 All Black flyhalves. (Pool 6)

33:50 - "A pool characterised by mediocrity". Possibly the poorest pool for a long time in the competition, as Cardiff & Edinburgh lead the way but fail to impress. (Pool 3)

35:50 - Ospreys' efforts to rid themselves of their star culture hasn't paid dividends, as Saracens do the double over the Welsh region. (Pool 5)

37:20 - A look ahead to the Stephen's Day interpros in the RaboDirect Pro12 and the chance they present to up and coming youngsters.

42:00 - Talking Rugby's Christmas wishes, which include coaching changes at provincial level, the re-employment of certain national coaches, a new head at NAMA and using the intellect of a school child to fix the scrum!

Finally we'd like to wish all our listeners a merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year!

Pedro, Doc and William join Dave for a look at the Irish provinces and our flagship issue this week is a comprehensive look at injuries in rugby.

Coming up:
0:00 - Munster's poor show at Osprey and a look ahead to their key trip to Scarlets in the Heineken. Peter Stringer's loan deal to Saracens and Doug Howlett's serious injury also get a mention.

13:20 - Leinster's trouncing of Cardiff and a preview of Bath hosting Leinster in Europe. Is Leinster's current style of play the best around?

23:30 - Was Ulster's win over Scarlets an upward graft? Is there an answer to Ulster's lack of creativity?

29:30 - Connacht's slump continues with a home loss to Treviso but do have a chance against Gloucester?

34:00 - Other big games coming up in the Heineken Cup with Pedro and Doc's bets of the week.

38:10 - William, a senior lecturer in anatomy, physiology and clinical health studies, heads up our special on injuries. He gives a great insight in various aspects of injury. Issues discussed include:

- The intrinsic and extrinsic factors that contribute to injury.
- What protection should players wear?
- The importance of warming up and warming down. How warming up prepares muscles for intensive activity.
- How powerful modern players are.
- The difficulty of joint and connective tissue damage.
- The worrying trend of concussion, what it is, its symptoms, what repeated occurences can mean in later life and what research in the NFL has discovered about the relationship between concussion and brain injuries.
